The harsh winter has finally melted away and the lush green has begun to make its return to the world. That’s right—spring has arrived and it’s time for some spring decor ideas! For many parts of the United States, spring means the Christmas trees are being put away, the snow is leaving, and heavy coats, mufflers, and fur boots are being shed. Sunshine, breezy beach days, and books are back and are here to stay!

What better way for your household to welcome the blossoming spring back than to decorate your home in a fun, spring theme? Decorating your house for the spring is not just fun, but it’s a technique to help you cope with homesickness by making your dorm/apartment/house feel more like a home. Decorating with your roommates can also be a good way to get to know one another!

When you look on Pinterest for decorating ideas, you may be disheartened. Some pins can be very pricey to duplicate and complicated to complete. That’s why I researched and compiled 5 spring décor ideas to embrace that are fairly simple to pull off and won’t cost a crazy amount of money to complete.

If this sounds like something you’d like to try, just continue reading. These 5 spring décor ideas will have your home ready for the warm weather in no time at all.

Idea #1 – Balcony/ Window Gardens

This first of our spring décor ideas is perfect for those of you who have always wanted to have your own garden but may not have the space to be able to create one.  Welcome back the spring and make your neighbors smile by creating your own personalized balcony and/or window gardens!

Before you start this project, you should make sure you have both the time and passion it takes in order to raise a healthy garden. If you’re not home often or tend to go away on most weekends, you should either get plants that don’t take a lot of attention or think about getting decorative, plastic plants. Some easy plants to care for include peace lilies, aloe, mint, Christmas cacti, hoya, and spider plants.

Once you decide what type of plants you should get, you can move onto the fun part – buying your new plants! Make sure you have an empty back seat when you go to the store to get your plants – you’ll need lots of room for your plants, any pots you might buy, fertilizer, and other gardening tools.

Back at your home, it’s up to you to arrange your new gardens in a way that suits you and your style. Get creative!

Idea #2 – Spring Wreath

You might see a lot of wreaths made of pinecones, pine branches, holly, and pretty poinsettia flowers during the Christmas season, but why not carry the tradition over into the spring? Instead of pinecones and branches, you could use spring-inspired greenery, like bright and colorful flowers.

If you were to use just real flowers, it would only be a matter of days until your pretty wreath wilts away. Instead, use plastic decorations to achieve a similar look or be prepared to replace your real flowers often.

Need some inspiration or just don’t know where to start when it comes to creating a wreath? This video will give you two wreath ideas that you can achieve by visiting your local Dollar Tree! Way to save money, right?

Idea #3 – Easter Rocks

Tired of plastic and boiled eggs for Easter? Want something that will let you get creative without having to worry about misplacing a boiled egg (only for the stench to send you on an unplanned egg hunt later)? Rocks might not seem like something you could use as standalone decorations, but painting them might just be the easiest decoration on our list!

Simply pick your favorite pastel paints, find some smooth, round stones, and round up your household for a rock painting day! Get as wild and creative as you can! Each rock should be a reflection of its painter.

After they’ve dried, place your beautiful rocks on your windowsill, around the centerpiece on your table, or anywhere else in your house that seems like it needs a burst of color!

There’s nothing wrong with decorating some boiled eggs if you want! In fact, here are some creative ways to use leftover Easter eggs once the holiday passes.

Idea #4 – Mason Jar Vases

What can’t you do with Mason jars?  Seriously, if you have a couple of these Pinterest favorites sitting around, you should put them to use!

They’re also quite lovely to use for spring décor ideas. The gardens that you made earlier can be substituted for a few flowers held in your new Mason jar vases if you like how these turn out.

To begin, gather your Mason jars together. Clean them thoroughly. Using soft, spring-colored acrylic paints, go ahead and paint the outside of your jars. Let them dry overnight and add a glossy finishing coat.

After that dries, add some water and put in some freshly cut flowers. If you prefer, you can always use plastic flowers. Or you could pick some that you find!

Idea #5 – Easter Basket Centerpiece

The last of our spring décor ideas is my favorite – a beautiful Easter basket centerpiece for your dining room table. If you’re in a dorm an don’t have a dining table of your own, you could always place this on your bedside table or even on top of your shiny mini fridge!

The Dollar Tree or Dollar General should have everything you need to create a beautiful basket filled with plastic eggs (or stone ones), candies, Easter grass, chocolates, fake flowers, and whatever else you’d like in it.

I hope you’ll take one of these spring décor ideas and really make it your own! Happy Spring, everyone!
